Woke this morning early and looked out on greyness and thought I was at home! But as it turned to daylight, there it was, the palm trees, gently rolling surf and then the sun came cheerfully up over Moana Loa. Downtown Kona today was a nightmare trying to get through creeping traffic to Palani Road. One of the reasons was a giant women's march about abortion. Hundred and hundreds of marchers tying up cross traffic and part of the road closed off. Eventually I got out of there as I was heading for Costco to get a roast chicken to have for dinner tomorrow night. Ray and Michelle are arriving tonight on west jet. I flew out here on Air Canada and my flight got in at 1:30in the afternoon. Gave me ample time to get car organized, get a few groceries and get in and settled. West jet on the other hand arrives with passengers at 10:45 and leaves with homeward bound passengers at 11:45! 😳 I bought myself a bunch of anthuriums, somet...
It is Thursday of our first week here in Kailua Kona on Big Island, Hawaii. The plan for today was to drive out to the Queens Market at Waikaloa to find the 'Crocs' footwear store. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the clunky looking ones that are popular today so in the clearance section I did find a pair of the 'Z' ones I like for $29.00 so I'm happy. Even Barb found a pair of black sandals as well. Once we left there, I drove us up to Hamakauas Macadamia Nut Company in Kawaihae. I'd been a few times prior with other friends and family. It has changed a bit inside but they still provided samples of all the different flavours of coatings on the nuts so you can purchase the canned flavours you like. We liked a few! Hey! You can even get spam flavoured ones!! We watched a video of the process from tree to package. The factory wasn't working inside today to watch so perhaps it's off season for macs? At any rate we sat and a...
Today was April Fools day and no great jokes played, thankfully! Fir some strange reason, I've been having an issue with ankles swelling, at first I put it down to the plane rides and being relatively immobile for hours and hours. Elevating my feet has helped. Then yesterday after spending about8 hours there, I ended up once again with swollen ankles along with an angry looking rash on both ankles, one worse than the other. I think I have discovered the cause....I'm a fairly good internet practitioner in medical things.....(speaking very tongue in cheek)! It has happened to a great many folks who go to Disney Land and Universal! It actually is called The Disney Rash. You can google it......and, see the photo of my lower leg.
We did a few more rides, as well, kids let gramma loose to go snoop around some shops and check out Diagon Alley, Ollivanders wand shop and other Harry Potter delights. I tried to get a photo of the dragon on Gringotts again because every so oft...
