The second part of my journey will be joining cousins on the third of January driving south with our destination being California and thence onward to Hawaii.  It snowed again last night.  Before retiring last night I looked out the window and the snow was blowing almost horizontal.  The neighbor man had just finished shoveling his driveway when I went to bed, but by morning it was piled up in drifts where he shoveled!  The temperature has risen to -15 today.  I just checked, the temperature in Kailua Kona where we will stay is 27!  A slight difference, but we will adapt fairly quickly I think!  My flip flops ( we used to call them thongs in the olden days! but that word now means a piece of scanty garment so I won't use it!) are calling to me.  I can envision the sunshine, waving palm trees, heavenly scented air and tropical birdsong.  My favorite part about Hawaiian Islands is sitting out on a lanai early in the morning listening to the birds chit chatting away to one another.

Happy New Year Everyone

Still snowing here

This is looking out on my sons patio at the back of the house. It was cleaned off completely yesterday, some of the snow is as it falls, some is wind blown into drifts.
The snow continues to drift lazily down to the ground as we near the year end.  Perhaps this is a good reminder for us of what the rest of our family and friends will be experiencing while we slog through the winter in a warmer climate.  It's a tough job, but we will persevere through it.  We leave Alberta to cross into the US on the 4th of January.

Christmas With all the trimmings and family

Coming from the west coast to Alberta for Christmas means a white Christmas is almost guaranteed! Yesterday the temperature warmed from -24 to 0 - it was downright warm! Merry Christmas everyone! Sent from Sandy's iPhone

Tomorrows the day...

My flight leaves at 8:15 in the morning.  As I glance out my window, the cloud lays low over the islands and hugs the water.  It does seem to be brightening somewhat and tomorrow it is supposed to warm up a bit.  This morning it snowed at higher elevations but rained here.  All being well I will arrive in Alberta just after lunch time!  Til then.....
