Hey!! Is it supposed to rain in Kona?

Last evening as we sat on our patio enjoying supper it began raining and we could look down on the P pool and see it sort of splashing on the water.  We eventually went to bed a bit later on and it was still pouring down.  Today when we went out for a drive we saw some huge mud puddles along Ali'i Drive.  The air felt fantastic, scented and clean.

No blog yesterday, not much exciting to report….other than our trip out to Captain Cook village to visit the Farmers market there.  We chatted with some interesting folks here and there, bought a few things and then decided we needed lunch and a gourmet hotdog was on point.  Barb had the wheel and got us up to Costco really quickly.  All the people in Kailua Kona were there, word must have gotten out about the hot dogs!  What do you think Rick?

I was sitting out on our patio enjoying my morning coffee just after 8 yesterday morning when I thought someone hit the building.  Turns out it was a 3.8 quake centred between Keahou and Mauna Loa.

This morning after a leisurely breakfast and coffee, Barb wanted to stop at Wally World, which we did, then since some of the local botanical gardens are closed Monday we decided on a drive out to Waikaloa Village.  Some pix from there.

We grabbed a sandwich and a drink and sat outside at a table and chairs enjoying the repast while a zillion little chirpers decided to entertain us so we were tossing them some tiny bits of bread and boy are they fast grabbing them.

Lunch over we got back in the car to return to Kona.  Stopped for gas at Keahou, ran into Sam Choys to reserve a table for Saturday night dinner.  Great place to enjoy a sunset and foods good there too!

As Barb drove back I took a photo looking ahead, you can see the lava fields in this area,  there are layers upon layers of lava floes in many places and in very old floes you can see grasses and scrub trees have become part of the landscape.  That's the ocean below the clouds you can see as well.

Ok, time to call it a day.  My iPads battery is almost diminished and bed will soon beckon.  We might have a game of rummy, surely to gosh Barb will let me win one game! 😳
