LONDON

Sending along some photos of London. We stayed three nights before our trip back home. I am a tad frustrated right now as I'd typed out a long narrative about our time there and before I could send it....it turned off. So here goes again and probably a lot shorter.

Overall I have to say we had a fun time, both in Portugal and London. We did the Hop on, Hop off bus in London and also toured through the Tower of London listening to the delightful talk by a Beefeater on who was in the "off with their heads" category of people who lived there and others. Some folks do like the blood and guts stuff don't they?

We saw that great huge ferris wheel affair called "the London eye" and opted not to go in it, both of us being heights sensitive. We rode down and back up The Thames in a boat....kind of a waste of time, but we did it anyway. We saw the glass bullet building that Londoners affectionately call "the gherkin", and a new glass structure soon to be the tallest in Europe called "the Shard". Glass cleaning businesses should boom in and around London!

We rode around on double decker busses, both inside and out. Typically half topless upstairs so we could get a good feel for the winter climate. We had our own chauffeur to and from the airport. Strangely, we thought perhaps he might be called something other than "David"! Wow, the service industries both here and abroad are certainly non white, non English first language aren't they? Interesting to say the least.

The Ten hour flight back to Vancouver was great.....only 58% full so we stretched out! Lots of time to shop at airport before flight to Island. Oh no, delayed! Then delayed again, then cancelled. Overnighted at the Delta and ferried home in the morning. We were soooooo happy to see Jack waiting for us at the ferry dock! I think I can safely say both Val and I enjoyed our nice warm, soft beds!

I hope you all enjoyed our blog....this is the last entry! I enjoy blogging when I'm away as it is so hard to remember Everything you did and what you saw when you get home. Now I can print it out to save for later.
