More photos from Ferragudo

Although the temperature could be a little warmer we are feeling better today. The sun is beautiful and we actually laid in the pool area outside late this morning after breakfast as Val is determined to go home with a bit of colour. She threatened that if she didn't get some sun here we would have to spend our three days in London enroute home getting an artificial tan!!! Anyway, out by the pool She turns nicely brown and I turn nicely pink!

In the afternoon Val, myself and Betty decided to go for a walk in search of the other beach while Sharon stayed at the villa to have a shower and just relax a bit. We walked up a hill past the castle walls and found the steps leading down to a beautiful sandy beach which features four small cafe's stretched out along the beach. We may need to investigate for quite possibly dinner tomorrow night and maybe even some Vinho (our one Portugese word we all learned fairly quickly.....Vinho branco is white wine and Vinho Tinto is red). Its all downhill on the way home! We walked a ways along the sandy beach and next thing we know.....Val doffed shoes and headed for the water.....needless to say she didn't stay in very long. The cliff face along the beach looks incredibly porous and is crumbling away through erosion and is coloured white through orange and yellow. Don't tell anyone but I picked up a small piece of the rock to bring home as a souvenir and there is no weight to it at all. I might even be able to bring another one home......

On the way to the beach we passed a Portuguese house with a nice vegetable garden we could look into. Several recognizable things such as a cabbage like plant, lettuce, Onions and so on. What was amazing were two or more small trees, one with huge oranges and another with beautiful big lemons! I also noticed a new tree had been planted that I figured out was an apricot.

We also walked up through part of the village again and I took a couple of pictures of some of the very narrow streets. So different from what we are used to. The colours on the buildings are often pastel rainbow hues and everything is so clean and white. Tomorrow we will return to the little minimarts grocery for fresh fruit and veggies as well as some laundry soap and coffee.

I took a couple more photos looking across to Portimao....quite pretty...we have a lovely view from this villa. Tonight we ate in.....rice with chicken and lots of steamed vegetables. We learned many new things.....how to turn on the burners on the stove top.....how to pull out the fan over the stove which magically came on and how to use the oven and dishwasher. Everyday will be a new experience but it gives you such a feeling of accomplishment! Never say you are too old to learn something new.
